Bologna, Italy: A City of Culture, Soul and Art

There are many famous cities in Italy. Nonetheless, Bologna has its own charm and authentic feel to it. The city has plenty to offer. Even though it is often overlooked by tourists who rush into other touristy hotspots around the country.

Bologna is the capital city of Emilia-Romagna in northern Italy. It is halfway in-between Florence, Venice and Milan. The populaion is 39,000, making it the most populous city in the region.

Bologna has many names. Most notably are “La Dotta” or “The Wise” for hosting the oldest university in Europe. This also translates into the culture of the city as being old and authentic. Moreover, “La Rossa” is sometimes used as a nickname. This is translated as “The Red” due to its medieval red roofs. Lastly, “La Grassa” or “The Fat” refers to Bologina as the city rich in foods and a gourmet’s paradise.
