Diwali the festival of lights originated in the Indian subcontinent. Today it is celebrated in many other locations outside of India. Some notable celebration spots include Fiji, Malaysia, Nepal, Mauritius, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and many other countries. The festival celebrates the triumph of light over the darkness by litting candles in clay pots outside the houses.
