4 Reasons Travelling Can Save Our Lives

“To travel is to evolve.” – Pierre Bernardo

Sickness has many facets to it, some are obvious while others hidden within our minds to the extent that we never knew they actually exist.

Why is it that sometimes we are furious by the slightest remark given by our managers, colleagues, neighbors or even loved ones? Why do we let negative emotions grow more than their real size or make their impact huge on our lives?

Could stress be the root cause and could travel be the answer?

Here are four reasons how travel can ease our stress and remove negativity:

1.Your Heart Beats for Travelling

The alarming rate of heart attacks during the last decade, forces us to take a step back and reconsider our life choices. We can see how our small decisions can have a huge impact on our whole wellbeing.

Scientific research concluded that people who do not travel for quite a number of years are at the risk of developing heart problems and are 30 percent more likely to suffer a fatal heart attack.

While others who plan for travelling or even chat about it have higher rates of surviving a heart attack or avoid it altogether in addition to overcoming risk factors that could be detrimental to their health. Oh! and did we mention how amusing and enriching are these talks?

2. Active or Chair Lover?

Sitting all day at an office chair and staring at large and small screens of computers and phones is not exactly the most joyful thing in the world, do you agree? Also, grabbing a bar of chocolate or a bag of popcorn while staring all night at yet another bigger screen isn’t that fun either.

Travellers adhere to itinerant lifestyles that closely resemble the health modes of our ancestors. Our modern societies do not give a lot of flashbacks to old lifestyles, let alone to ancient human civilisations, and although mortality rates have significantly decreased with scientific and medical advancements yet the quality of life is questionable in terms of stress and pace.

According to medical studies, physical inactivity is a determinant risk factor for cardiovascular disease and a massive variety of other chronic diseases, including diabetes mellitus and cancer among many others.

Tourist and travelers walk a staggering ten to twelve miles a day, now that’s quite remarkable!

3. Energy and Health Booster

Scientists are on the verge of a remarkable discovery in re-engineering our bodies to live longer, while this idea might still be in its infancy, another practical and widely proven method is already practiced, what is it? Simply put, it’s travelling more frequently.

It gives a boost to our immune system by exposing it to new and different environments and trains our body to be resilient and adaptive to new weather conditions as well as new foods and drinks.

4. Psychology and Travel

Our body may relax with sleeping or sitting down, but the same methodology does not apply proportionally to our brain and consequently when we do not give the latter sufficient amounts of rest. This will spill off onto our psychological state and we end up with an undesirable mood or state of mind.

This is where travelling comes into the picture and it ultimately saves the day by introducing us to new cultures and ways of thinking, it broadens our horizons and keeps our psychology in check. This is further emphasized by reports finding of students who study abroad under the international student programs, and come back with enriching and stable emotional and physical states.
